The accident involved the ground taxiing operation of a civilian aircraft out of the Comox Valley Airport (CYQQ). Civilian aircraft are routinely required to conduct taxi operations via the 19 Wing Comox uncontrolled military ramp to access various taxiways and runways.

During departure operations from the civilian terminal, the B737-700 aircraft taxied through the military uncontrolled ramp in the vicinity of military aircraft. While taxiing, the B737 700 aircraft’s starboard winglet struck the aft tail section of a parked and unoccupied CC-130. The B737-700 crew ceased taxi operations and requested emergency services.

The CC-130 aircraft sustained serious damage and the B737-700 sustained minor damage. No injuries to crew or passengers were reported at the time of the occurrence.

The investigation is focusing on human and environmental factors.
