Many domestic operations in Canada involve protecting or rescuing Canadian citizens who are endangered by natural disasters such as floods, ice storms or forest fires or contributing to vital domestic security operations.
Recent domestic and continental operations include, but are not limited to, the following:

| September 2005 | Unison | Canada’s contribution to rescue, recovery and flood-relief efforts on the Gulf Coast of the United States following Hurricane Katrina. |

CFS Alert and its roles.
The Air Force has been resupplying Canadian Forces Station Alert in Nunavut, the most northerly permanently inhabited place in the world, for more than five decades. On average, Operation Boxtop moves about 375,000 kilograms of freight and 1.8 million litres of fuel into the station, which is only 817 kilometres from the North Pole.
In 2009, the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) took command of Canadian Forces Station (CFS) Alert and it now falls under command of 8 Wing Trenton, Ontario.
