19 Wing Chief Warrant Officer

Chief Warrant Officer Donald B. Farr, MMM, CD

Chief Warrant Officer Farr was born in Calgary, Alberta and enrolled into the Canadian Armed Forces(CAF) in 1990 as a Finance Clerk. After Technical Qualification training, he was posted to the Base Comptroller section at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Ottawa, Uplands (7 Wing). Upon announcement of base closures in 1995 he went to 4 Wing Cold Lake, spending most of the time at Wing Headquarters (HQ) but completing his time in Cold Lake with a two-year posting as the Chief Clerk (CClk) of 410 Sqaudron. While in Cold Lake he transitioned with the amalgamation of Administration and Finance in 1998 into the Resource Management Support Clerk occupation.

In 2004 CWO Farr was posted to Canadian Forces Support Unit Colorado Springs, supporting North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) as In Charge of the Orderly Room. In 2007 he was posted to 1 Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry as CClk, including a deployment as the Battle Group CClk, followed by a transfer to CFB Edmonton as Base CClk. Following his successful time with the Army, 2012 had CWO Farr posted to CFB Borden as Superintendent Clk and Base CClk.

In 2014, selected for an OUTCAN to Ramstein, Germany, he was employed within North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Air Command (AIRCOM) filling the roles of A6 Administrative Assistant, Deputy Senior Enlisted Leader to Deputy Chief of Staff Support and Acting Command Senior Enlisted Leader for NATO AIRCOM HQ. Promoted to his current rank in 2016, he was employed within the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) Air Personnel Management Directorate in Ottawa as the Directorate CWO from 2017 until 2020. Here he was responsible for the RCAF Recognition program and the duties of the RCAF HRA Superintendent.

  • Task Force 3-09 Afghanistan (2009)
  • Kuwait OP IMPACT – 1 as the Air Task Force CWO (2020)

In 2012 CWO Farr was recognized for outstanding achievements and appointed to the Order of Military Merit.

CWO Farr is an international Softball Umpire which has taken him all over the world and was the CAF Slo-Pitch Chief Official 2013 – 2019.

CWO Farr was appointed to his current position as the 19 Wing Chief Warrant Officer in Comox, BC, in July of 2021.
