2024 CF-18 Demonstration Team

Every year, the Royal Canadian Air Force selects a group of exceptional individuals to form the CF-18 Demonstration Team. These individuals are selected individually for their superior performance and dedication to excellence. Without the tireless work of each member of the team, the demonstration fighter would never leave the ground. The team is made up of 16 people: the demonstration pilot, eight technicians, five safety pilots and a public affairs officer and narrator.

The eight technicians are divided into two teams of four. The Eastern team, from 3 Wing Bagotville, Quebec, maintain the jet during shows east of Thunder Bay, Ontario, and the Western team, from 4 Wing Cold Lake, Alberta, maintain the jet during shows west of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Technicians travel to each show in a truck and bring the  trailer that contains all the tools and parts needed to maintain the demo fighter. During the air show season, the Demonstration Team technicians will travel throughout North America to ensure that the demonstration fighter is fit to fly.

At each show location, a safety pilot must be present to monitor the demonstration and to provide support to the demonstration pilot. The public affairs officer and narrator attends all shows to provide communications and to narrate the show.
