Snowbird 8, Lead Solo

Captain Marc-André Plante

Captain (Capt) Marc-André Plante was born in Chicoutimi, Quebec. His father was an Avionics Systems Technician which allowed the family to also live in Greenwood, Nova Scotia, and Borden, Ontario. This experience inspired Capt Plante to pursue a career in aviation. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Cadets with 517 F/Lt Graham Squadron and 734 Alliston Legion Squadron, where he earned both his Glider and Private Pilot licenses, further cementing his desire to become an aviator.

He joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 2011 under the Regular Officer Training Plan, graduating from the Royal Military College of Canada in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Capt Plante earned his wings in 2016, flying on the CT-156 Harvard II and the CT-155 Hawk. He was then assigned to the 2 Canadian Forces Flight Training School at 15 Wing Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, as an instructor on the Harvard II where he earned his A Category instructional rating and taught at the Flight Instructor School.

Capt Plante joined the Canadian Forces Snowbirds as Snowbird 2, flying in the Inner Right Wing position during the 2022 season. He has been flying as Snowbird 8, one of the solo positions, since 2023. He brings over 2,800 hours of military flying experience in high performance aircraft to the team.

In his spare time, Capt Plante enjoys spending time with his wife and dog, working on his master’s degree, reading, running, and producing social media content to share his Snowbirds experience.
