Snowbird 8 – Opposing Solo, Canadian Forces Snowbirds
Captain Marc-André Plante was born in Chicoutimi, Quebec. His father was employed as an Avionics Systems Technician which allowed the family to also live in Greenwood, Nova Scotia, and Borden, Ontario. This experience inspired Capt Plante to pursue a career in aviation.
Capt Plante joined 517 F/Lt Graham Royal Canadian Air Cadets Squadron in 2007. Through 734 Alliston Legion RCAC Squadron, he earned his glider pilot and private pilot licenses, further cementing his desire to become an aviator.
He joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 2011 under the Regular Officer Training Plan, graduating from the Royal Military College of Canada in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
Upon arriving at 15 Wing Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Capt Plante earned his wings in 2016, flying on the CT-156 Harvard II and the CT-155 Hawk. He was then assigned to the 2 Canadian Forces Flight Training School as an instructor on the Harvard II where he earned his A Category instructional rating and became an instructor at the Flight Instructor School.
In his spare time, Capt Plante loves playing video games, working on videos for social media, learning new skills, reading, and running.
