Snowbird 6 Outer Right Wing, Canadian Forces Snowbirds
Captain Steven Sparks is from Hamilton, Ontario. In 2010, he graduated from McMaster University with a bachelor’s degree in Humanities, while also playing football for the McMaster Marauders.
In 2013, Capt Sparks earned an Advanced Diploma in Aviation Flight Management, as well as a Commercial Pilot Land and Sea Rating from the Thunder Bay Confederation College, Ontario. This increased his chances of successfully facing the challenges of Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) Aircrew Selection.
An avid football player since age 8, Capt Sparks joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 2014 to further his dream of continuing to evolve as a part of a greater team.
After completing his Basic Military Officer Qualification, Capt Sparks was posted to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, where he earned his RCAF pilot wings. He flew both the CT-156 Harvard II and CT-155 Hawk. Capt Sparks was thereafter posted as a flight instructor at 2 Canadian Forces Flying Training School where he earned a senior instructional category and was selected to be a Harvard II Standards pilot, evaluating staff and students.
Capt Sparks joined the Canadian Forces Snowbirds in 2019 as Snowbird 6, Outer Right Wing, a position he has maintained since. He brings over 2,100 hours of total flying experience, including 1,900 hours of ejection seat flying to the team.
