Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Technology and Engineering
The Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Technology and Engineering (CFSATE) is a leading centre of technical training excellence within the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). As a training establishment of 16 Wing, located at Canadian Forces Base Borden, CFSATE is operationally responsible to 2 Canadian Air Division.
CFSATE’s core mandate is to generate highly skilled air maintenance and engineering personnel who are essential to maintaining the readiness and serviceability of Canada’s military aircraft for operations. In support of this mission, CFSATE delivers effective and innovative training to both Regular and Reserve Force personnel with apprentice-level training for technical occupations, including Avionics Systems, Aviation Systems, Aircraft Structures and Air Weapons Technicians. The school also trains Aerospace Engineering Officers, delivering all programs in line with approved doctrine and to the highest professional standards.
Graduates of these intensive, months-long programs advance to on-job-training and specialized on-type courses at their Operational Training Units or Squadrons where they integrate fully into their respective aircraft communities.
CFSATE is deeply committed to its vision of fostering a modern, bilingual, respectful and inclusive training environment that evolves in step with the needs of the RCAF.
As a cornerstone of the Aerospace Maintenance community, CFSATE embraces its vision by continuously advancing both its learning culture and its training infrastructure. To meet the demands of increasingly sophisticated and technology-driven fleets, CFSATE is undergoing a comprehensive modernization initiative. This includes CT-155 Hawk ground trainers, advanced Part-Task Trainers, Virtual Reality systems, as well as the adoption of innovative instructional techniques and methodologies. These enhancements ensure that today’s trainees are fully prepared to maintain not only the advanced aircraft of today, but also the cutting-edge RCAF fleets of the future.
