1st Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment

1^e Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment (1 R22eR), is a mechanized infantry battalion. Its role is to generate and train versatile troops, capable of operating in the full spectrum of operations. 1 R22eR is among the top Canadian infantry units.

Comprised of three infantry companies, one headquarters company with a reconnaissance platoon and a service company, 1 R22eR has faced numerous operational challenges over the years. Even though its mechanized infantry unit mandate gives it a certain expertise with light armoured vehicles (LAV III), 1 R22eR can quickly be called to provide light support (on foot) when the situation warrants.
