BGen Graham joined the Canadian Armed Forces as a Reservist in 1987 and two years later was accepted to Royal Roads Military College in Victoria, BC. In 1993 he graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston.

After graduation he spent his first commissioned years serving in both the 8th Canadian Hussars and The Royal Canadian Dragoons filling numerous positions from Tank Troop Leader to Regimental Adjutant. Following tours to Bosnia in 2001 and to Kabul, Afghanistan 2003 he was promoted to Major and assumed command of B Squadron, The Royal Canadian Dragoons. In January 2007 BGen Graham deployed with his Squadron to Kandahar, Afghanistan during which time he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal.

Following promotion to Lieutenant-Colonel and two years serving as Executive Assistant to the Army Commander, BGen Graham returned to Petawawa in July 2014 to take command of his Regiment as the 55th Commanding Officer of The Royal Canadian Dragoons. After Regimental command he was promoted to the rank of Colonel and served as the G3 of the Canadian Army and the Director of Current Operations on the Strategic Joint Staff before taking command of the Canadian Combat Support Brigade in July 2019. Promoted to his current rank in May 2021, he commanded Operation PROTEUS in Israel and the Palestinian Territories until assuming command of the 3rd Canadian Division on August 10, 2022.

BGen Graham is a graduate of the Jamaica Junior Command and Staff Course, the Joint Command and Staff Programme, and the National Security Programme. He also possesses a Bachelor of Engineering in Engineering Management and Master’s degrees in Defence Studies and Business Administration. BGen Graham and his wife are the proud parents of three sons.
