Major-General Mialkowski

Conrad Mialkowski joined the Canadian Forces in 1988 while completing a Bachelor of Arts degree at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario. He was commissioned as an Infantry officer in The Royal Canadian Regiment in 1991.

Major-General Mialkowski spent his Regimental service with 1st Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment, in various appointments from the rank of Second-Lieutenant to Lieutenant-Colonel. His field service in Petawawa culminated with the honour of commanding 2 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group from 2015-17. Extra-Regimentally, he has served with 2nd Battalion, The Irish Regiment of Canada, in Sudbury, Ontario, and the Land Force Central Area Training Centre, in Meaford. Staff assignments have included positions in both plans and operations branches of the Army Headquarters, the Canadian Expeditionary Forces Command Headquarters, the Strategic Joint Staff as well as serving as Chief of Staff to the Chief of the Defence Staff, in Ottawa.

MGen Mialkowski has benefited from the good fortune of having commanded during operations. First as a Mortar Platoon Commander, Operation HARMONY, Croatia (1994-95), next as a Company Commander, Operation PALLADIUM, Bosnia (2003-04), as a Battle Group Commander, Operation ATHENA, Afghanistan (2010), and finally as a Brigadier-General in the role of Deputy Coordinator with the United States Security Coordinator for Israel and the Palestinian Authority (Op PROTEUS) and Commander Task Force Middle East (2017-18). Most recently, he served as Commander 4th Canadian Division and Joint Task Force Central, with headquarters located in Toronto.

MGen Mialkowski is an Officer of the Order of Military Merit, was awarded the Meritorious Service Cross, with bar, and the Legion of Merit Degree of Officer from the United States of America. A graduate of the National Security Programme, he holds a Masters of Defence Studies from the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) Kingston.

He is married to an accomplished professional in her own right, and together they are proud parents of a talented daughter.

Major-General Mialkowski was promoted to his current rank and appointed Deputy Commander Canadian Army in April, 2021.
