Happy Holidays from the Canadian Army Command Team

Happy Holidays from the Canadian Army Command Team

Statement / December 13, 2024 / National Defence

Dear Canadian Army Family,

With the holiday season upon us, Chief Warrant Officer Robin and I would like to extend best wishes to all of you. Our One Army team has had another busy year where you have continued to represent our country to the highest standards of the profession.

This year, the Canadian Army reached a significant milestone by transitioning the Canadian-led Multinational Battle Group in Latvia from under command of the Latvian Mechanized Infantry Brigade to a Canadian-led Multinational Brigade. This mission will be the primary force generation effort for the Canadian Army for the foreseeable future, but the Canadian Army continue to be the primary force generator for Op UNIFIER, Op IMPACT, and during this year deployed forces on Op HELIOS and Op GLOBE to Haiti and in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Domestically, Regular Force, Army Reserve and Canadian Rangers also contributed to helping Canadians during Op LENTUS activations for wildfires in Newfoundland and Labrador, Manitoba, and Alberta. The increasing frequency of climate-driven natural disasters represent one of the unprecedented challenges we face, and the Canadian Army will continue to be there to support Canadians in their time of need.

2025 will be another busy year, with plenty of work to do to advance our priorities of Modernization, Reconstitution and Readiness. The Army Sergeant Major and I look forward to visiting the soldiers of the Canadian Army in Canada and around the world.

With the holidays upcoming, we also want to use this opportunity to introduce The Commander Canadian Army Reading List 2025 Edition, compiled by the Canadian Army Command and Staff College. Among the dozens of titles, you’ll find history, philosophy, doctrine, and more. Whatever your interests or experience level, we hope you’ll find something to expand your thinking.

Thank you for your tireless dedication and for being exceptional ambassadors for the Canadian Army. We hope that you will have some time over the holiday season to rest and spend time with family and friends, before coming back in 2025 and working together to keep our Canadian Army Strong, Proud and Ready.

Happy Holidays,

Lieutenant-General Michael Wright
Commander Canadian Army

Chief Warrant Officer Christopher Robin
