The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development:

We want our companies to be able to export and succeed internationally, supporting market diversification.

So again we want to make sure that we avoid the boom and bust and really have diversification with respect to our trade portfolio and attracting targeted foreign direct investment to Atlantic Canada.

(Text: Federal ministers and Atlantic premiers have agreed in principle on a $20 million federal-provincial multi-year Atlantic trade and investment growth strategy with the aim to double the number of exporting enterprises from Atlantic Canada from 1,700 to 3,400 by 2025.)

Another initiative that I want to announce is the Atlantic Trade and Investment Growth Strategy. This $20 million strategy is designed to expand business activities between Atlantic Canada and international markets by creating new exporters.
