Reducing Waste, Growing Opportunity
As demand grows for sustainable products, Envirem Organics has invested in innovation and automation to strengthen its position as a leader in organic waste diversion and sustainable growing solutions.
The company transforms residual materials from the forestry, fishery and agriculture sectors into organic growing media, soil amendments and fertilizers for gardeners, farmers, greenhouse operators and landscapers. By giving new life to these materials, Envirem helps divert waste from landfills and provides alternatives to products such as peat moss and chemical fertilizers.
Support from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) has played an important role in Envirem's growth. Through investments in research and development, product innovation and advanced manufacturing equipment, ACOA has helped the company modernize operations, expand production capacity and improve productivity.
One of the most significant results has been the expansion of Envirem's Miramichi manufacturing facility. Equipped with four robotic production lines, the facility can produce approximately 12 million bags annually. Automation has improved efficiency, enhanced product consistency and positioned the company as a high-volume producer capable of competing in national markets.
"ACOA has been a great partner over the years, supporting both product development and investments in manufacturing equipment," said Bob Kiely, President and GM of Envirem Organics.
