Amanda Jensen

Meet our team

Amanda Jensen, Account Assistant, Fredericton, N.B.

Amanda Jensen believes in supporting local – and she puts that belief into practice. Personally, that involves trying new restaurants in Fredericton, shopping at specialty stores in her neighbourhood and visiting area markets. “Supporting our small businesses is not only supporting our direct community, but is also helping grow our local economy. It is one of my priorities to be continuously involved in the local community.”

That involvement is also reflected in the work Amanda does with ACOA as an account assistant, which involves helping clients through the phases of claiming their funds and preparing project contribution agreements. “In this role, I am part of the front line when it comes to our stakeholders. I speak with them on a frequent basis, assess some of their needs, and help determine how we can help meet those needs. It is rewarding.”

“Not only are we providing support to local entrepreneurs and start-ups,” adds Amanda, “but we are building continuous connections with stakeholders and businesses to help them achieve their goals, and helping others stay afloat during hard times.” She notes with pride that her team won a President’s Award of Excellence in 2021 for providing exceptional service while developing new tools and solutions to improve services.

Before graduating from the University of New Brunswick (UNB) with her Bachelor of Business Administration, Amanda worked in customer service at Jean Coutu for six years. During her final year at UNB, she took a Co-op assignment to work at ACOA in Moncton, where she grew up. “I took on roles related to the development and evaluation phase of ACOA clients and projects.”

In addition to helping local businesses and organizations through her work, Amanda is active within ACOA, serving on numerous committees such as the Employee Engagement and Social Committee, Diversity Committee, and the Federal Youth Network. “As a member of the LGBTQ+ community,” says Amanda, “I have the opportunity to bring a different perspective to the committees I contribute to.”
