Roger Miranda, Senior Advisor to the Vice President, New Brunswick
Roger Miranda thrives on the energy and excitement of helping Atlantic Canadian businesses succeed. “It’s a fast-paced environment here at ACOA and every day is different,” he says. “And that’s the absolute beauty of it.”
Born in Nicaragua, Roger moved to Canada in 2011 to study at St. Thomas University in Fredericton. There he found many similarities between Nicaragua and his new home in Atlantic Canada, particularly the friendly, familial and hospitable nature of the people.
After Roger graduated in 2015 with an Honours Degree in Political Economy, he moved to Halifax to attend Dalhousie University where he obtained a Masters in Development Economics in 2017.
Roger then joined the Government of New Brunswick as an economist. Looking for a change 6 years later, Roger joined ACOA in October 2023. He currently serves as Senior Advisor to the Vice President in New Brunswick.
In his first week, Roger visited a client and was immediately impressed by their passion for their work. He quickly realized the vital role ACOA plays in the Atlantic Canadian economy.
He saw that ACOA employees need to be active listeners: listening to our clients and communities across Atlantic Canada. By doing so, ACOA will always remain aware of the issues that matter the most to Atlantic Canadians, he says.
Roger sees ACOA as the “frontline” for economic development in Atlantic Canada. His passion for his work, for ACOA clients and for the Province of New Brunswick is clear.
“New Brunswick is my home away from home. There is so much potential in this part of the country and so much dynamic economic growth taking place. Each day, through my work, I want to be able to contribute to the betterment of the province and Atlantic Canada as a whole, both now and into the future.”
