Reporting on the User Fees Act 2014-15

General Information

Fee name: Fees for processing requests filed under the Access to Information Act

Fee type: Other products and services

Fee-setting authority:Access to Information Act

Year introduced: 1983

Year last amended: 2015

Performance standard: A response is provided within 30 days following receipt of a request. Under section 9 of the Access to Information Act, the response time may be extended.

Performance results: The statutory deadline was met 85% of the time. This includes cases where a notice of extension was sent to the requester within 30 days of receipt of the request.

Other Information: Responses that exceeded the performance standard were mainly due to the additional workload resulting from the transition of the Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation business to ACOA and to the consultation process.

Under the Access to Information Act, fees under $25 may be waived when deemed to be in the public interest. ACOA’s practice is to collect only the application fee and, in the public interest, to waive any other applicable fees. Fees waived during 2014‑15 amounted to $1,637.
