Magnetic Hill Zoo Expansion Underway

Government of Canada investment will help expand and improve access to the zoo’s education centre

December 20, 2016 – Moncton N.B. – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency

Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Member of Parliament for Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe, today announced an investment of $200,000 for upgrades to the Magnetic Hill Zoo Education Centre.

The work, which is currently underway, involves construction of a 2,000 square foot addition to the Centre, which is being partly funded through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP150). The expansion includes a new wheelchair accessible entrance, two large classrooms, as well as washrooms, a kitchen, a staff and volunteer room and a supply room.

The CIP150 is providing up to $300 million nationally over two years to support projects to rehabilitate, renovate and expand community and recreational infrastructure as part of the Government of Canada’s activities to honour Canada’s 150^th anniversary of Confederation. These investments will help create jobs, boost economic activity, strengthen communities and celebrate Canada’s rich heritage and history. CIP150 is administered by ACOA in the Atlantic region.
