Backgrounder - Creating a Grand Cultural Tourism Experience
Backgrounder
Storytelling events will be built on existing interpretation programs, designed to exceed current customer expectations and will be offered on a daily basis. Scripted storytelling themes will range from the deportation to romantic tales of Evangeline and Gabriel and Acadian humour.
A daily marionette production will provide a unique entertainment experience for visitors to Grand-Pré. Guests will also have an opportunity to purchase their own marionettes and “stage” their own performance on the small stage.
La Société will oversee, coordinate and secure additional funding for the staging of one key special event per month throughout the summer season (June – September).
Through the White Glove Artifact Experience, trained interpreters will escort small groups of visitors on a personalized backstage tour of Grand-Pré to focus on a selection of prized and favourite artifacts (e.g. French Sainteonge pottery, coins etc.). The experience will be the highest premium experience at Grand-Pré, offered daily at noon, with lunch provided.
Acadian Genealogy will assist visitors with Acadian origins, particularly those linked to the Grand-Pré area, with their ancestral research. Such a program will be staffed by knowledgeable historians and offered regularly by appointment. The service will be performed on a for-profit basis.
