World Class Pavilion Opens at Beaverbrook Art Gallery

News Release

October 17, 2017 – Fredericton, NB – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency

Canada’s cultural industries contribute to our identity and provide jobs and opportunities for middle-class Canadians. Thanks to an investment from the Government of Canada, Fredericton families and visitors alike will benefit from new public programming, larger travelling exhibits and improved accessibility at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery.

The Honourable Dominic LeBlanc Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard and Matt DeCourcey, Member of Parliament for Fredericton, joined officials from the Beaverbrook Art Gallery over the weekend to celebrate the official grand opening of the Gallery’s Pavilion.

The 14,000 square foot expansion includes a multipurpose theatre, new gallery and studio spaces, an exterior terrace, café, elevator and permanent collection storage upgrades. The expansion will bring greater rental opportunities, a better ability to accommodate large travelling exhibits and increased revenues. This project builds on the Beaverbrook Art Gallery’s existing assets such as its world-class art collection.

The Government of Canada invested $1.5 million under ACOA’s Innovative Communities Fund while Canadian Heritage contributed $507,821 to this project.
