Governments of Canada and Newfoundland and Labrador invest nearly $1.2 million for projects in Grand Bank and Marystown
May 14, 2018 – Marystown, NL – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency
The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) is investing a total of $867,525 and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, through the Department of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation (TCII), is investing a total of $331,164 in two projects with the Town of Grand Bank and St. Gabriel’s Hall Inc. in Marystown.
Details of the projects are as follows:
Town of Grand Bank
$647,209 – ACOA’s Innovative Communities Fund (non-repayable)
$248,926 – Department of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation
These funds will help the Town of Grand Bank implement Phase I of its Downtown/Waterfront Redevelopment Plan. This project will focus on enhancing leisure areas, streetscapes, gateways and other areas of historical and cultural significance. This initiative is part of the Town of Grand Bank’s strategic plan to revitalize key assets within the community to improve the visitor experience.
St. Gabriel’s Hall Inc.
$220-316 – ACOA’s Innovative Communities Fund (non-repayable)
$82,238 – Department of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation
These funds will help St. Gabriel’s Hall complete facility enhancements to the interior of St. Gabriel’s Hall. The project includes installing a new HVAC system and purchasing audio/visual equipment. St. Gabriel’s Hall will also engage a consultant to develop a comprehensive operational plan for the facility. This initiative will improve the facility’s energy efficiency as well as its versatility to ultimately increase visitation and provide sustainable economic development for the venue.
