Shediac Lobster Shop Continues Growth with New Equipment

Atlantic Canada’s ocean sector is an exciting and rapidly expanding part of the region’s economy, generating billions of dollars in revenue and sustaining tens of thousands of jobs. By investing in this vital, innovative and growing sector, the Government of Canada is creating sustainable wealth and new jobs in the region, as well as protecting our important ocean environment, for generations to come. The Government of Canada delivered good news today for the Shediac Lobster Shop by announcing total investments of close to $230,000.

The Honourable Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard and Member of Parliament for Beauséjour, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), today announced financial support for equipment upgrades for the lobster processing plant.

Specifically, this investment will allow the company to increase production by modernizing equipment and automating processes. The Government of Canada is providing a repayable contribution of $230,641 through ACOA’s Business Development Program for the project.

This investment builds on the Government of Canada’s commitment to drive economic growth in Atlantic Canada through the Atlantic Growth Strategy, by providing strategic investments for projects that will benefit communities by creating jobs and building on the region’s competitive advantages, including agricultural expertise and a skilled workforce.

This announcement comes as Canada celebrates World Oceans Day on June 8.
