Land and Sea Instrumentation Scales up Services to Heavy Industry

Dartmouth-based company purchasing specialized equipment to diversify its maintenance and certification offerings

Having access to high quality service providers that meet certification standards is critical to the success of many of Atlantic Canada’s largest employers. Land and Sea Instrumentation Limited, a company that services valves for a diverse range of Atlantic Canada’s industry sectors, is integrating advanced technologies to diversify its service offerings and better meet the growing needs of its clients.
This innovative project involves purchasing specialized equipment that will enable the company to carry out pressure valve testing and certification to national standards. The new equipment will allow Land and Sea to carry out its work onsite, rather than transferring the equipment to and from its facility in Dartmouth. In addition to greatly improving customer service, the company will benefit from increased efficiency and productivity, leading to increased revenues and global competitiveness.
Today Darren Fisher, Member of Parliament for Dartmouth-Cole Harbour, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), announced support to help Land and Sea instrumentation Ltd increase its technological capacity to become a one-stop service provider for its clients.

It is helping small and medium-sized businesses to start-up, expand or modernize and supporting not-for-profit organizations to fuel business growth. Support for this project is one way the Government of Canada is working to achieve its Atlantic Growth Strategy outcome of long-term economic prosperity in the region.

The Government of Canada invested $119,072 in this project through ACOA’s Business Development Program (BDP).

As a result of this project, Land and Sea Instrumentation Limited will immediately hire four highly-skilled technicians, and an additional three technicians may be required within the first six months of the new contracts the company has signed.

Land and Sea Instrumentation Limited has been servicing heavy industry from pulp and paper, power generation stations, refineries and the offshore oil and gas industry throughout Atlantic Canada from its Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, facility for more than 20 years.
