Advanced manufacturing equipment will increase efficiency and quality
April 10, 2019 – Bridgewater, NS – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency
Adopting advanced technology to modernize operations improves productivity and increases global competitiveness. That is why the Government of Canada is supporting a project at Bridgewater Metal Industries Limited (BMI) that will improve the company’s efficiency and product quality to better serve its customers.
BMI is acquiring Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining equipment, including a hydraulic press brake and a C-series plasma table for its facility in Oakhill. The new equipment will allow the company to fabricate and cut metal products faster and with greater accuracy, while minimizing metal waste. The machine is also safer and requires less manual labour.
The Honourable Bernadette Jordan, Minister of Rural and Economic Development and Member of Parliament for South Shore - St. Margarets, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), announced Government of Canada support for this project today.
Economic growth and the creation of good jobs for Atlantic Canadians require innovation and diversification. Support for this project is one way the Government of Canada is working to help businesses scale-up, increase productivity and participate in the innovation economy. Projects like this also contribute to the Atlantic Growth Strategy outcome of long-term economic prosperity in the region.

The Government of Canada invested $92,500 in this project through ACOA’s Regional Economic Growth through Innovation program.
