Tourism non-profit receives federal and provincial funding to strengthen economic opportunities in Twillingate area

Atlantic Canada’s tourism industry is vital to the region’s economy and supports thousands of local jobs and businesses. That is why the Government of Canada is investing to help non-profit organizations like Grow Twillingate Inc. of Twillingate, Newfoundland and Labrador, extend the tourism season in their community and create more economic opportunities for the region.
Maximizing Twillingate’s tourism season
Today, Scott Simms, Member of Parliament for Coast of Bays-Central-Notre Dame, on behalf of the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages and Minister responsible for ACOA, along with the Honourable Steve Crocker, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation, announced a total investment of $104,973 to help Grow Twillingate Inc. host the 2021 Unscripted Twillingate Digital Arts Festival.
This investment will help Grow Twillingate Inc. enhance their virtual and in-person four-day digital creative arts festival, while ensuring all public health guidelines are followed. This event, which includes interactive workshops, content creation and learning activities, is a major tourist attraction and draws many visitors to the region.
Today’s announcement further demonstrates the Government of Canada’s commitment to help the tourism sector come back strong from the pandemic downturn and prepare for future economic growth.

The Unscripted Twillingate Digital Arts Festival is one of their projects that takes place annually during the third week in September; it is Atlantic Canada’s first Digital Arts Festival.
