The Gaia Project creates Green Mentorship Program

News release

Federal investment supports development of talent pipeline for green economy

April 21, 2022 · Fredericton, New Brunswick · Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA)

A clean environment and a strong economy go hand in hand. The Government of Canada recognizes that in order to develop and grow a cleaner economy, businesses in the region must be equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to seek new opportunities for growth.

New program will encourage green career paths

Today, Jenica Atwin, Member of Parliament for Fredericton, announced a non-repayable contribution of $162,140 from ACOA’s Regional Economic Growth through Innovation (REGI) program to The Gaia Project to develop a green mentorship program in Francophone and Anglophone K-12 school systems. The Green Mentorship Program will connect students and teachers with sector professionals, and encourage hands-on learning.

This investment is helping The Gaia Project raise awareness around green careers, creating a talent pipeline that will boost the green economy and help businesses reduce their environmental footprint.

MP Atwin made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages, and minister responsible for ACOA.

Today’s announcement further demonstrates the Government of Canada’s commitment to help businesses and organizations who are innovating and seeking new opportunities to adapt and grow.
