New ways to learn and be active for Eastern Shore and Musquodoboit Valley communities
News release
Government of Canada fueling community revitalization and creating the conditions for the local economy to thrive
January 11, 2023 · Carroll’s Corner, Nova Scotia · Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA)
Five Nova Scotia communities are building and upgrading spaces enjoyed by everyone from toddlers to seniors. A playground, a gallery, a park, a hall and a senior’s recreation centre are getting a boost from the Government of Canada to promote social interaction, learning and physical activity. Amenities like these are integral to the overall well-being of individuals, families and communities.
Today, the Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship and Member of Parliament for Central Nova, announced total investments of $322,727 for four projects through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF) and one project through the Tourism Relief Fund (TRF). The projects are located along Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore and in the Musquodoboit Valley area. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages and Minister responsible for ACOA.
For the full list of projects, please see backgrounder.
The CCRF was launched in June 2021. The fund provides $500 million over two years to Canada’s regional development agencies (RDAs) to invest in shared and inclusive public spaces. The Government of Canada is committed to investing in shared spaces to make them safer, greener and more accessible. This will help stimulate local economies, create jobs, and improve the quality of life for Canadians.
Launched in July 2021, the TRF was created to help organizations and businesses in the tourism sector adapt their operations to meet public health requirements, offer innovative products and services to visitors and prepare to welcome back travellers. Canada’s regional development agencies are delivering $485 million in TRF support.
