Central P.E.I. businesses modernize, expand and improve efficiencies

Local businesses are a key source of pride and good jobs in Atlantic Canada’s rural communities. Investing in these businesses allows them to adapt, modernize and compete on a global scale. The Government of Canada is helping 13 organizations in Central P.E.I. explore new ways to innovate and drive economic growth in their communities.

Investments support business growth

Today, Heath MacDonald, Member of Parliament for Malpeque announced a total investment of $4,037,509.47 in 13 organizations based in Central P.E.I. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Gudie Hutchings, Minister of Rural Economic Development and Minister responsible for ACOA.

The Government of P.E.I. is also contributing $499,683 toward 3 of the 13 projects.

The funds will help these organizations take steps to improve and grow their businesses, from automation to new exports, strategic planning, and building upgrades. For the full list of projects, please see backgrounder.

Today’s announcement demonstrates the Government of Canada’s commitment to helping Atlantic Canada’s rural businesses in new and traditional sectors innovate, compete and grow.
