Figure 2: primary focus of the projects surveyed by program area

Clients who responded to the evaluation survey identified the primary focus of their projects by program area, which includes: development, demonstration, commercialization, marketing plan, refinement, evaluation and adaptation. Clients were allowed to select more than one primary area; therefore, numbers add to more than 100 percent. The summary of the figure shows that 95 percent of clients with projects supported through the Atlantic Innovation Fund – commercial element reported development as the primary focus; 23 percent reported commercialization as the primary focus; and 9 percent reported the refinement and evaluation phases. Eighty-six percent of clients supported through the Atlantic Innovation Fund – non-commercial element reported the development phase as the primary focus. Ten percent reported the demonstration phase; 29 percent, the commercialization phase; 10 percent in each of the refinement and evaluation phases; and 5 percent in the adaptation phase. Fifty-three percent of clients supported through the Business Development Program – commercial element identified the development phase as the primary focus; 8 percent, the demonstration phase; 24 percent, the commercialization phase; 10 percent, the marketing phase; 12 percent the refinement phase; 2 percent the evaluation phase; and 17 percent the adaptation phase.
