CBSA intercepts major shipment of methamphetamine
News Release
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced today that border services officers in the Pacific Region recently seized over 30 kilograms of methamphetamine.
On May 26, 2016, CBSA officers at the Pacific Highway port of entry discovered approximately 32 kilograms of methamphetamine, 1 kilogram of heroin and 1 kilogram of cocaine in a truckload from the United States.
This is the single largest interception of methamphetamine in British Columbia (B.C.) in the past five years. The last time officers found a large quantity of methamphetamine was in March 2015 when officers at the Douglas port of entry seized over 20 kilograms of the illegal drug.
The CBSA arrested the driver of the truck, a B.C. resident, and turned the drugs and driver over to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The investigation is ongoing.
The CBSA remains committed to intercepting drugs at all ports of entry and preventing drug smuggling that endangers the safety of Canadian communities and generates profits for organized crime.
