54 bricks of suspected cocaine seized at the Abbotsford-Huntingdon port of entry

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is announcing a significant seizure of 64 kilograms of suspected cocaine at the Abbotsford-Huntingdon port of entry (POE).

 

On April 30, 2018, during an exam of a commercial truck, border services officers (BSOs) discovered what appeared to be narcotics. The truck was referred for a secondary examination and a detector dog was called in to assist. Upon further examination, and as a result of the diligence and determination of BSOs, a total of 54 bricks of suspected cocaine was discovered.

 

The vehicle was seized and the driver and suspected narcotics were turned over to Royal Canadian Mounted Police Federal Serious and Organized Crime.

 

The investigation is ongoing.

  • In 2016, there were 163 narcotic seizures at the Abbotsford-Huntingdon (Traffic & Commercial Operations) POE. In 2017, there were 156 narcotic seizures.

     

  • The CBSA is responsible for enforcing over 90 Acts of legislation, including the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Any contravention against the Act may lead to prosecution in a court of law.
