Helpful Tips
How to reach potential donors:
- Peer-to-peer: Divide members of your organization into contact lists that are organized by job level and have ambassadors canvass their peers to make them feel comfortable.
- Personal touch: Invite contacts for a coffee. If your members are not in the same location, ask for a brief Teams call. A face-to-face request is more effective than an email.
- Answer questions and concerns: Know your material, answer questions honestly and recognize donor concerns. If you don't know the answer, let the donor know you will find out and follow up with the Chair's Office or your local manager.
- Ask for a decision: Finish your outreach by asking your colleagues if they would like to contribute. Remind them that any amount makes a difference!
- Say thank you: Regardless of the donor's decision, thank them for their time and if they donated let them know it's appreciated.

Project Step supports youth as mental health challenges increase
The Ontario Student Drug Use and Health survey shows that the number of young people in Ottawa reporting poor or fair mental health has doubled since 2020, and many young people are using drugs and alcohol to cope. Fortunately, Project Step promotes mental health and substance use health, and reduces harms related to substance use and addictions.
