The Canadian Coast Guard Aircraft Services Directorate provides critical safety and security services to Canadians. After a long history of close collaboration, the program was recently transferred to the Canadian Coast Guard from Transport Canada.
Aircraft services missions
The Canadian Coast Guard is responsible for the Government of Canada’s civilian airplane fleet, including maintenance.
Our planes are used in surveillance and response to:
- environmental spills
- natural disasters
- maritime security
- other events
Our aircraft fleet also supports:
- the rest of the Canadian Coast Guard
- Department of Fisheries and Oceans
- Department of National Defence
- Aerospace Engineering Test Establishment
- Royal Canadian Air Force
- Royal Canadian Mounted Police (on request)
- Transportation Safety Board of Canada (on request)
- Ottawa Police Services (on request)

- standards
- operator oversight
- managing the National Aerial Surveillance Program
