Expression of interest: Western Shore, Nova Scotia

The Canadian Coast Guard is requesting expressions of interest from interested parties who can provide seasonal housing accommodations for Canadian Coast Guard employees. The accommodations must meet the following minimum requirements and be within a 10 km radius of Oak Island Resort:

Leasing requirements:

Availability from May 1 to September 15, 2026; potential to be renewed for four (4) additional option periods;
Residential dwelling including at minimum:
- living room
- one (1) bathroom with shower
- three (3) bedrooms
- one (1) office space
- fully functional kitchen
- laundry and storage facilities
- as well as one (1) area/room dedicated for storage or crew’s gear, i.e. personal protective equipment, rain gear, boots, etc.
Reliable high speed internet, power, and HVAC included;
Tested and approved potable water. Water must meet the Canadian Drinking Water Quality Guidelines;
Copy of a current laboratory certificate to be supplied seasonally;
Functioning standard fire alarm detection system as per national building and electrical code;
All exterior doors and windows should be in good repair and equipped with standard locking mechanisms;
The ability for Canadian Coast Guard technicians to install a VHF Marine radio antennae on fixed building or structure;
Outdoor lighting, outdoor water faucet;
Parking for 3/4-ton truck and 35ft boat trailer;
The lessor must agree to meet all applicable health and safety requirements;
Designated space to be under the sole access of the Canadian Coast Guard and accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Lessor shall provide 24 hour notice to the Canadian Coast Guard prior to entering; and
Preference may be given to facilities that:
- are fully furnished (including all bed linens and towels);
- have additional parking space for crew vehicles and/or with access to sheltered dock space for a 8m fast rescue craft; with access to fueling (supreme gasoline) services, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; and
- are open to including off-season (September 16th-April 30th) storage of Canadian Coast Guard equipment on the premises.

Information to be provided with response:

civic address of proposed location
age of dwelling and total floor area, including any storage
exterior and interior photos of dwelling, including all rooms and storage
type of heating/cooling including pictures of units
if applicable, list of furniture, appliances (small and large), and utensils provided

The Canadian Coast Guard will not necessarily invite offers, or lease space, and may not post any future advertisements relating to this request. The Canadian Coast Guard reserves the right to proceed with an invitation to offer to lease by inviting only parties deemed to most effectively meet specific operational, security and public safety requirements.
