Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games

August 6 to 21, 2022

The 2022 Canada Summer Games will be held in the Niagara Region, Ontario from August 6 to 21, 2022. The 2022 Games sport program will include over 5,000 participants from 13 provinces and territories, competing in 18 sports.

The 2022 Games will leave lasting legacies of new and enhanced sport facilities, programs and equipment, as well as volunteer, officials, and leadership development that will benefit athletes and the broader Niagara community for years to come. The Games will prepare our next generation of international champions while inspiring the dreams of children across Canada.

As the single largest investor in Canada’s sport system, the Government of Canada is proud to provide over $12,500,000 to support the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games Host Society.

On April 2019, the Government of Canada announced the addition of (box) lacrosse (men and women) as a pilot project to the sport program. Lacrosse is the oldest organized sport in North America, is Canada’s national summer sport, and has been played by Indigenous peoples for centuries. The lacrosse pilot project is funded solely by Sport Canada’s Hosting Program.

Included within the $12,500,000 Sport Canada funding is $1,100,000 to help mitigate increased operational costs due to the COVID-19 pandemic and postponement of the Games.

Through Sport Canada programs, Canadians contribute to the preparation, participation, and celebration of the 2022 Canada Summer Games.
