St. John’s 2025 Canada Games

The St. John’s 2025 Canada Games are set to take place in the easternmost city in North America, from August 8 to 25, 2025. This national multi-sport event will bring together over 5,000 participants from all 13 provinces and territories. They will compete in 17 sports (19 disciplines), for 240 medal events.

The St. John’s 2025 Canada Games will leave a lasting legacy to the community by enhancing sport facilities, fostering volunteer engagement, and inspiring the next generation of athletes. The 2025 Canada Games are also expected to generate economic benefits.

Through Sport Canada programs, Canadians contribute to the preparation, participation, and celebration of the Canada Games.

The Government of Canada is the single largest investor in the Canadian sport system. Through Sport Canada, it is providing over $29.25 million to support the St. John’s 2025 Canada Games, including contributions towards the operational costs of the Host Society, the addition of lacrosse to the sport program, funding for the Fortis Canada Games Complex as well as the costs associated with participant travel.

In addition to Sport Canada’s funding, other federal departments are also contributing to the successful delivery of the Games. Housing Infrastructure and Communities Canada provided $11.59 million through the City of St. John’s for the construction of the Fortis Canada Games Complex, and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency contributed $1.3 million in operational funding to the Host Society to promote the Games across Canada.
