Prince Albert Student Among the Winners of the 2017 Canada Day Challenge

PRINCE ALBERT, Saskatchewan, June 14, 2017
Emily Zbaraschuk of Meath Park Public School in Prince Albert is the national winner of the Canada Day Challenge in the “Write it!” category. The other 2017 winners are Joshua Sprigg of Mount Albert, Ontario, in the “Snap it!” category and Fiona Tung of Markham, Ontario, in the “Draw it!” category.
Emily submitted a poem under the theme “Celebrate Your Future.” In her poem, entitled Where are we from, she evokes the idea that people, places and ideas are what shape our country.
Emily and her mother have been invited to visit Canada’s Capital Region as of June 27 to participate in Canada Day celebrations, which are taking place on Parliament Hill as part of Canada 150. Emily and the other winners will have the opportunity to visit Parliament, museums and national historical sites during their visit, thanks to the support of official collaborators. Her entry will also be displayed at the Canadian Museum of History from June to September. Additionally, she will receive an iPad from the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) and will have the opportunity to work with a team of experts from the NFB to produce her own short film.
