Aries

Aries is a colourful geometric sculpture at Commissioners Park, near Dows Lake in Ottawa. The artist, Sebastian, donated the artwork to the Government of Canada as a symbol of the cultural ties between Mexico and Canada.

Aries (the ram) was originally part of Emotional Geometry, an exhibit that stylistically represented the signs of the Zodiac.

The large-scale geometric artwork is made of painted steel and adds a new dimension to the floral displays at Commissioners Park.

Sebastian, one of Mexico’s leading artists, uses geometry as a medium for inventing and expressing his own language. He created Aries in 2009.
