Réflexion

Réflexion is a destination artwork installed between Sacré-Cœur and Maisonneuve boulevards, in Gatineau.

The installation’s 64 vertical elements represent stylized trees. All of the same size and made of wood, steel and reflective acrylic, they mark the entrance to the downtown core.

This sculpture recalls Gatineau’s past, with its roots in the forest industry. In the daytime, the many vertical elements create a marker and, at night, the numerous light sources emanating from these structures create a constellation guiding the way.

This project integrates the city of Gatineau’s art with architecture and urban planning. It links the past and future, local history and the modern city.

Réflexion was created by Simon Bouffard, Claude Chaussard and André Fournelle in 2006.
