Samothrace

Samothrace is on Sussex Drive, between the York Steps and the Connaught Building, in Ottawa.

This cast iron sculpture was created in 1966 by Armand Vaillancourt, a world-renowned avant-garde artist from Montréal.

From 1958 to 1969, Armand Vaillancourt was awarded some 15 prizes in Quebec, Canada and the United States. He is also a man of commitment who takes action to support the causes he embraces.
