National Sport Organizations
National Sport Organizations (NSOs) - sometimes referred to as National Sport Federations (NSFs) - are the national governing bodies for given sport in Canada. These organizations serve many important functions, including:
- governing all aspects of a sport within Canada;
- managing their high performance programs;
- selecting and managing their national teams;
- implementing national initiatives to develop and promote their sport;
- sanctioning national level competitions and tournaments;
- providing professional development for coaches and officials in their sport; and,
- proposing and supporting bids for international competitions in Canada.

- Water Ski and Wakeboard Canada is responsible for coordinating, growing and developing towed water sports from initiation to high performance. Responsible for the overall health of the sport in collaboration with our Provincial Sport Organizations, WSWC leads through proactive advocacy, strengthened partnerships, effective communications and coordinated leadership. Representing several interest groups in the sport, Water Ski and Wakeboard Canada has been in the business of serving the towed water sports community since 1949. A non-profit organization, Water Ski and Wakeboard Canada is the sole national sport governing body and recognized water ski and wake sport authority in Canada, representing all competitive Canadian towed water sports including adaptive water ski and wakeboard, barefoot, marathon, show ski, wakeboard, wake park, wakesurf, wakeskate, and water ski. As the national association, WSWC is also responsible for high performance, national championships, and developing the national programming for grassroots development, coaching and long-term athlete development.

- Wheelchair Basketball Canada is the national sport governing body responsible for the organization of wheelchair basketball in Canada. A non-profit, charitable organization that is the Canadian member to the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF). Wheelchair Basketball Canada delivers programs and services that strengthen the sport from the grassroots level to high performance athletes competing in the Paralympic Games. Representatives from the provinces elect the Board of Directors which establishes policy and lends guidance to the development of wheelchair basketball in Canada.
