Competition Bureau’s 2019-2020 Annual Plan places focus on digital economy

July 25, 2019 – OTTAWA, ON – Competition Bureau

The Competition Bureau has published its 2019-2020 Annual Plan: Safeguarding the Future of Competition.

The Annual Plan outlines the Bureau’s priorities for the coming year as it focuses its enforcement and promotion efforts on new and emerging issues in Canada’s rapidly growing digital economy.

This focus includes:

  • protecting Canadians from anti-competitive and deceptive conduct in the online marketplace;
  • promoting innovation, lower prices and increased choice for Canadians in sectors such as telecommunications, internet services, health and bio-sciences; and
  • anticipating and investigating emerging competition issues associated with an increasingly data-driven economy.

By keeping pace with rapid changes in the digital economy, the Bureau is protecting and promoting competitive and innovative marketplaces now and into the future.
