Biography

Nadia Grogan completed her B.Sc. (Hons) in Archaeology, Human Biology and Art History at the University of Toronto. During her studies, she developed an interest in built heritage conservation, leading her to pursue a diploma in Heritage and Traditional Masonry from Algonquin College and later an M.Sc. in World Heritage Conservation from University College Dublin.

With more than a decade of experience in heritage conservation and rehabilitation, Nadia has worked across Canada in a range of roles including conservation technician, draftsperson, project manager and stonemason. Her experience spans residential, commercial and heritage projects, combining hands-on conservation work with project planning and management. Prior to joining the Canadian Conservation Institute, she contributed to the Centre Block Rehabilitation Project as a masonry conservator, and she served as the Asset Manager for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission’s Canada, Americas and Pacific Area office. Through this work, she helped develop asset management and condition assessment frameworks, and oversaw projects at sites across the Asia-Pacific region.

Drawing on both practical trade experience and academic training, Nadia is committed to advancing the conservation of heritage places and promoting the transmission of traditional building craft knowledge to future generations.
