Library services

The CCI Library supports the research needs of staff at CCI as well as Canadian students and heritage organizations. It is open to the public by appointment.

The CCI Library offers four main services. All services are free for Canadians.

  1. Reference services
Staff at the library provide instruction on how to use the library's collection, its equipment and the online catalogue. They also assist with bibliographic searches (using the CCI Library catalogue, staff bibliography and BCIN).
  2. Loans
The CCI Library provides direct loans to Canadian heritage organizations (e.g. museums, libraries, archives, provincial museum associations) and limited interlibrary loans outside of Canada in cases where the library owns the sole copy of an item. With the exception of rare, fragile or reserved materials, reference sources and journals, all materials from the collection are available for loan. Members of the public may request loans from the CCI Library through the interlibrary loan services of their local municipal library.
  3. Photocopying services
Subject to the terms of the Copyright Act of Canada, photocopies of articles from journals, books, reports and conference proceedings can be sent by mail, email or fax.
  4. Library catalogue
The CCI catalogue and staff bibliography is available for our on-site and off-site clients.
