Why was the policy changed?

The Guidelines 254-1 ’ Occupational Health and Safety Program have been revised to reflect the changes in the Canada Labour Code, Part II; Canada Occupational Health and Safety Regulations; the Treasury Board Occupational Health and Safety Directive and Human Resources and Skills Development Canada Labour Program Policy.

What has changed?

The Guidelines were modified to include the following changes: updated reference information, additional definitions, new sequence to enhance clarity and logic and renumbering of subsections.

Three new Annexes have been added which are:

  1. Annex C - Telework;
  2. Annex E - What a Supervisor Should do if an Accident, Illness or Near Miss Occurs; and
  3. Annex E1 - Response to Incidents Involving an Employee Medical Emergency - Employer Checklist.

How was it developed?

The Human Resource Management Sector revised and further developed the Guidelines in conjuction with the National Health and Safety Policy Committee, Regional OHS representatives, unions, Technical Services Branch, Security Branch, Legal Services Branch, Linguistic Services and Strategic Policy Division.

Accountabilities?

The Guidelines clearly outline all OHS related accountabilities.

CSC staff affected by the policy.
