Why was the policy developed?

In November 2011, Treasury Board of Canada issued Guidelines for federal departments on the use of Web 2.0 technology. These TBS Guidelines were revised in March 2014.

Web 2.0 technology consists of Internet-based tools and services that allow for participatory multi-way information sharing, dialogue, syndication and user generated content. It includes social media (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, YouTube) as well as collaborative technologies (e.g., Wikis, Google Docs).

This new CD will enable CSC staff to maximize the benefits of Web 2.0 while complying with all legal and policy requirements.
