The policy was revised as part of the regular three-year review cycle and to include clarifications and recommendations in response to several Board of Investigation recommendations.

What has changed
The Responsibilities section was amended for clarity as follows:
- The Institutional Head/District Director will now specify in a Standing Order which camera feeds are available for live feeds and which ones are for evidentiary purposes and will ensure that access to the closed circuit television system (CCTV) is secure and limited to those who have authority to customize the system and download videos.
The office of the duty Correctional Manager is now included in the list of posts where a CCTV viewing station can be installed.
References to segregation units have been removed from the policy and from Annexes B, C and D.
Structured Intervention Units and dry cells are now included in Annexes B and C, and the Enhanced Support Houses were added in Annex C.
Annex C was amended to permit the installation of CCTV cameras in women offender houses.

These policy changes were developed by the Security Branch, in collaboration with the Strategic Policy Division.

All CSC employees responsible for supervising inmates within institutions, including Community Correctional Centres.
