Why were the policies changed?

Modifications were made to the policies as part of the national cyclic policy review process.

What has changed?

Technical amendments were made to the policies to ensure they remain aligned with current requirements, procedures and best practices. In addition, the policies have been changed to incorporate gender-inclusive language and policy direction with respect to accommodating offenders with gender identity or gender expression considerations.

A new national form entitled Log – Access to Medications Stored in a Locked Cabinet or in a Safe Location (CSC/SCC 1679e) was created to ensure consistency when documenting access by offenders to medications stored in a locked cabinet or safe location.

How were they developed?

CD 714 and GL 714-2 were developed by the Reintegration Operations Division, in collaboration with the Security Operations Division and the Strategic Policy Division, with input from internal and external stakeholders.

Who will be affected by the policies?

All staff members and contractors working in a Community Correctional Centre.
