Commissioner's update for correctional employees:
November 30, 2023
This content is a message to Correctional Service Canada (CSC) staff from CSC's Commissioner.
Appointment of New Chief Audit and Evaluation Executive
After almost 18 years with the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) in various positions, Christian D’Auray will be stepping down as Chief Audit and Evaluation Executive in February 2024. However, his last day on the job will be December 1, 2023. He is leaving not only CSC, but also the public service to take on new challenges. Please join me in wishing him success and happiness in this new adventure.
Daniel Giroux, currently Executive Director of Audit Operations within the Internal Audit and Evaluation Sector, has been appointed as Chief Audit and Evaluation Executive effective December 4, 2023. Daniel has over twenty years' experience in internal audit and evaluation. He held a similar position of Chief Audit and Evaluation Executive at Public Safety Canada before joining CSC in May 2020. He also held various management positions in a number of government departments, and brings a wealth of experience to continue the excellent work Christian has conducted over the past few years.
Appointment of New Deputy Commissioner for Women
Effective December 11, 2023, Amy Jarrette will be taking on the role of Deputy Commissioner for Women. Amy currently holds the position of Director General, Classification, Resourcing, and Operations. Prior to this, she was the A/Assistant Commissioner, Communications and Engagement from February 2018 to January 2020. Before joining CSC in 2016, Amy held various positions in a number of large operational departments, including Canada Border Services Agency, Public Safety Canada (Solicitor General Canada) and Health Canada. Amy is an engaged senior executive with a passion for people management, collaboration, and innovation. I know she will lead with the same type of enthusiasm in her new capacity.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Brigitte Bouchard for stepping in over the past year and half and providing leadership for the Women Offender Sector and meeting various challenges. Brigitte’s passion for women issues was evident and observed in various forums, including during Executive Committee meetings. Her dedication to women’s corrections is truly appreciated.
Please join me in congratulating Daniel and Amy and in welcoming them to their news roles. Once again, thank you to Christian and Brigitte for their leadership and dedication to corrections over the years.
