Inclusion in the Workplace for Racialized Employees Letter from the Office of the Auditor General

We understand that building a diverse and inclusive organization is essential for a safe, respectful, and engaged workforce. CSC firmly believes in promoting inclusivity throughout the organization and fostering a culture that embraces the unique identities, backgrounds, skills, experiences, and perspectives of all employees.

We have been actively working with the Office of the Auditor General in its Audit on Inclusion in the Workplace for Racialized Employees. The published results have been shared with Parliament, and we have accepted all recommendations from the report and begun to action them. Additionally, we received a letter (accessible only on the Government of Canada network) outlining observations and areas for improvement within CSC, including insights and best practices relating to staffing, retention, culture, and data. Please take the time to carefully review the letter and recommendations.

We acknowledge the importance of these observations and the need to continue enhancing our workplace culture and inclusiveness practices. Committing to increased transparency, we will work directly with CSC's diverse employee base to enact meaningful changes based on these recommendations.  Further, we'll draw inspiration from the successful strategies of other departments, highlighted in this letter, as we create a more equitable and inclusive workplace for everyone.

While recent years have seen progress, the audit report and letter highlight areas where additional focused efforts are required. We are dedicated to continuous improvement and will provide regular updates to all employees regarding our actions and progress in achieving the outlined recommendations.

Advancing Anti-racism

Together, we have the responsibility to be a public service leader. By establishing positive spaces where differences are acknowledged, diversity is promoted and a sense of inclusion thrives within our workplace.

Lastly, we also invite you to watch this recent video message to all employees about the important role we all play in advancing anti-racism, diversity, equity and inclusion at CSC.
