Commissioner's update for correctional employees: January 13, 2025

This content is a message to Correctional Service Canada (CSC) staff from CSC's Commissioner.

Our mission: The Correctional Service of Canada, as part of the criminal justice system and respecting the rule of law, contributes to public safety by actively encouraging and assisting offenders to become law-abiding citizens, while exercising reasonable, safe, secure and humane control.

Our core values: Respect, fairness, professionalism, inclusiveness, and accountability.

Last week, I had the pleasure to attend a special ceremony at La Macaza Institution. We first held a Change of Command Ceremony and officially passed the key to the institution from the former Warden to the new Warden.

We also celebrated several employees for reaching milestones in their careers. Some were recognized for 20 years of exemplary service or dedicated years of service, and others for their exceptional work during the Port-Cartier evacuation.

I am truly grateful to be working among such passionate and dedicated people who value and believe in our mission. Thank you for all your contributions. 

Community supervision in the North

Public Service Employee Survey: Thank you for your participation

I want to express my gratitude to each and every one of you that participated in this year’s PSES. Your feedback is invaluable and plays a crucial role in helping us understand the experience, needs, and perspectives of our employees.

The results will directly influence the strategies we implement to improve our work environment, strengthen our support systems, and foster a more inclusive and engaging culture.
